JUNE 2007

Hey! What the hell is with these banners? Sitesled, what are you doing to me? 'Appears at the footer' my beautiful arse...
Maybe I should take this as a sign to finally convert the website to Flash. It's starting to look kinda clunky anyways...
To the news - I have released a new range of t-shirts! Oh sweet fulfillment! Featuring designs old and new, for sizes corpulent and emaciated, click the link below to get the full skinny:

2007 SPECIAL EDITION T-SHRTS!

I've also updated Struwwelpeter Recommends and brought the timeline Pete Philips started for the About Ben Mitchell section up-to-date. Applaud my efficiency!

This month, STRUWWELPETER's in love with: The amazing women of 'The Sopranos'
Drea de Matteo, Lorraine Bracco, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Aida Turturro, Edie Falco, Alla Kliouka Schaffer, Nancy Marchand, Annabella Sciorra, Oksana Babiy & Sharon Angelo among many others...

Obviously there are a billion reasons to love this show, but now it's gone I think what I'll miss most of all are the ridiculously brilliant, funny and utterly gorgeous ladies of the ensemble. A salut!

MAY 2007

It's been over a year of riding on the coattails of the last record but I've finally started a new one. And there's a brand new, barely played track on my Struwwelpeter myspace to prove it! So everybody go play/download/add-to-your-page/rub-up-against the new song 'Smartass'. If you need persuasion, here are the selling points:
It's mellow and unobtrusive, happy and relaxing, no weird shit or screamy nonsense. If you have a hot date and are hoping for some bootknockin' this weekend, put this track on and it'll seal the deal. And if that doesn't work, it's cheap as free, so at least the price is right! Go! Hurry!

Hear the new track 'Smartass'!

Stay tuned for more information on the new album, and naturally more associated merchandise! Yippee!

This month, STRUWWELPETER's in love with: Maria Bamford

Funny as hell and also a little bit terrifying. Brilliant!

APRIL 2007

I have some new live tracks available from a performance at one of Jim Ford's little shindigs. I threw in some brand new songs from the as-yet-unproduced next album, so here's your chance to have a little preview. Some pretty questionable Ableton Live synth work (I'm just getting to grips with it - those guitars make me want to bite my fist) but all in all you get the picture.

New songs!
Drunk Lady
Anticancer
Start Again
Stepsister

Old chestnuts!
Laughing At A Wall
What I Predict (Amneurotic)
Smile Town

Enjoy!

This month, STRUWWELPETER's in love with: Molly Parker

Hot, Canadian and pretty much carried 'Deadwood'. Well, her and Lovejoy.

MARCH 2007

To prove I'm not spending all this time sitting around, scratching myself and crying, I've started an online production journal for my main MA project.
It's not a blog! It's a PRODUCTION JOURNAL!
Glad we cleared that up.
Anyway, it's sure to include loads of nifty crap about cartoons and whatnot, so check it out:

DEAD DUCK IDEAS

This month, STRUWWELPETER's in love with: Laura Silverman

The 'latter'? Ooh, fancy!

FEBRUARY 2007

Just to clarify in lieu of some emails - no, I haven't stopped making making music, and yes, all the records-in-progress will get released eventually. At this point I've done all the stuff I can do, the actual release and distribution is down to each respective artist. We're all very pleased with the reception our Xmas Sampler got and hopefully the albums will be out sooner rather than later.
As for more Struwwelpeter albums, I've written about 25 songs since 'Agnosticaust' came out and at least 10 of them will be put out as an album in the future. But I haven't even started production work, live shows or recruiting musicians yet so it could be a while. Instead of setting myself a date this time (because I inevitably never make my own deadlines) I'll just report on the album as it progresses. Hold on tight, folks, you know I love y'all!

This month, STRUWWELPETER's in love with: Holly Aird

'Waking The Dead' kinda sucks since she left.

JANUARY 2007

The next six months or so are gonna be pretty much focused on the MA, just a heads-up. In the meanwhile, take a merry gander at this indulgent film I made for one of the modules. It's me dealing with my favourite subject matter - me! Hooray!
Narcissus

Speaking of narcissism, check out the results of a year of weight loss. The over 100lbs of Ben Mitchell goodness vanished into the ether (sniff).

Still a goofy, potato-faced motherfucker, but waddaya gonna do, eh?

Happy new year!

This month, STRUWWELPETER's in love with: Nikki Payne

Absolutely goddamn hysterical.
