A FREE GIFT FROM STRUWWELPETER!
It’s that time of year again, when the holidays are drawing to a close and the stores are clogged with ungrateful tools returning and exchanging the tat bestowed upon them*. What can you do to stave off the inevitable post-xmas (or whatever you celebrate) anticlimax depression? What, I ask you?
Well, that’s where we at PhatBoy swoop in and briefly make everything seem not so hopeless after all! Hurrah!
This CD is a showcase of some especially talented musicians I’ve come across over the last few years, all of whom I’ve been fortunate enough to work with and, in recent times, produce. As well as a handful of collaborative efforts from my latest Struwwelpeter CD ‘Agnosticaust’ (plug-plug, pimp-pimp - yes, I am that much of a petty narcissus) the disc also includes exclusive selections from PhatBoy’s forthcoming 2007 releases.
For the first time you can listen to delightful chunks of Alison Eire’s long-in-the-works electronica project The Labrys Quartet; delicious globs of Jim Ford’s noisescape endeavour Silverfish; sweet-smelling rivulets of quasi-acoustic trip-hop glee with Lacklustre Triumvirate - all these and, consarn it, even more! In fact, I’m sorely tempted to go into needlessly lengthy detail about every musician you’ll hear on this disc, as well as all the many reasons I derive such giddy pleasure from working with them - but who wants to read the interminable rant of an asskiss?
Instead I’ll let these tracks speak for themselves and hope they will provide you with sufficient distraction so as to stave off those personal demons that seem to just get louder and louder with each passing day.
Merry holiday season and happy terrifying inevitability!
-Ben Mitchell
*Just try and return this, ya cheeky prick. I’d put money on Oxfam not even taking it.
